Session 3: Climate Change, Ecological Transformation and Energy Policies

The age of mass production, which commenced with the Industrial Revolution, has resulted in the accelerated depletion of natural resources and the escalation of environmental pollution on a global scale. In the last century, there has been a notable increase in global efforts to combat environmental pollution and the climate crisis. These efforts have resulted in the emergence of concepts such as a green economy, a zero-carbon target, sustainable development, renewable energy, an energy transition, an ecological society and a circular economy. Currently, these issues are addressed in a wide range of areas, from current technological advances and scientific studies to political decisions and economic policies. However, despite these efforts, a sufficient improvement has not been achieved on a global scale, and the number of regions affected by these problems increases as the level of economic development decreases. The combating of climate change and the pursuit of ecological transformation are of paramount importance if the world is to bequeath a habitable and equitable planet to future generations. Climate change, ecological transformation and energy policies are of vital importance not only for environmental sustainability but also for economic and social sustainability. In this session, issues such as combating climate change, energy transition, ecological sustainability and food security will be discussed, as will the role of intelligent economies in these areas.
