Technological advancements, underpinned by digitalisation and artificial intelligence, have precipitated a profound transformation in the global economy. The emergence of intelligent economies has engendered a multitude of ramifications, encompassing production processes, financial systems, employment dynamics and competition patterns. While the productivity gains and novel economic models facilitated by technological progress hold the potential to enhance global welfare, they concomitantly carry the risk of exacerbating income and opportunity inequalities. The exacerbation of the digital divide gives rise to the question of the extent to which emerging economies can be included in this transformation process, necessitating a rethinking of international cooperation and sustainable growth policies.

The Palandöken Economic Forum, which will be held in Erzurum Palandöken on 26-27 April 2025, aims to discuss in depth the transformation of economic systems in the face of artificial intelligence, automation and digitalisation, restructuring in the industrial and service sectors, and how global supply chains and trade models have evolved within the framework of the theme ‘An Equitable Future in a Smart World: Intelligent Economies and Global Inequality’. Concurrently, the repercussions of sustainable growth strategies, AI-supported economic policies and digitalisation on social welfare in the context of climate change and ecological transformation will also be assessed.

The production of knowledge shaped by the academic perspective serves as a guiding function for the business world and policy makers; therefore, the Palandöken Economic Forum aims to strengthen the interaction between academia and practitioners and to integrate the insights developed in the scientific framework into decision-making processes. We will be honoured to see you among us at this forum, which will be held with the participation of policy makers shaping the global economy, leading names of the business world, representatives of international organisations and academicians.
